The Great Conjunction

In astronomy, a conjunction occurs when two planets appear to meet each other in the sky. Presently Jupiter and Saturn are aligning in the sign of Aquarius, and they will seem to almost touch today, December 21st, the very auspicious and sacred Winter Solstice.

In astrology, Jupiter is said to be the planet of expansion and opportunity, when combined with the structure and discipline of Saturn we can expect a major ideological reset, making real and lasting changes in our collective beliefs, ideals, and philosophies.

For the last 200 years, Jupiter and Saturn have been meeting in earth signs, focusing our energy on material gain and security. But now in Aquarius and going forward for the next 200 years or so, they will only meet in air signs, a shift from stable earth energy to inventive air energy. From our vantage point on Earth, these two bright planets may appear as a single, glowing star.

Because of this and the timing of the celestial event, many are calling this the 'Christmas Star.'
